Last year sunglasses appeared across a multitude of runways, redefining the typical style of classic eyewear, exhibiting the new trend of sunglasses in the form of skinny and cat eye. Transforming from the generic black and brown lenses, new bight colours entered the scene, in the practically every colour available, with the most popular shades featuring reds, pinks and yellows.
These styles lined the SS18 collections across the high fashion runways including the likes of Louis Vuitton, Mui Mui and Chanel. Featured as make or break accessories that pull each collection together the trend added further elements of edge to the unique designs.
With thick colourful rims and contrasting black lenses appearing in skinny, metallic and ombre the number of different designs released on the SS18 catwalks seemed to be the height of the trend. However sunglasses have once again returned for the SS19 collections, skinny and Cat eye sunglasses have featured on the runways of this years London Fashion Week and in a range of collections from a series of designers.
Featured on the Lunyee Catwalk this year, skinny sunglasses paired with mesh, metallics and silver chains, accentuated the outfits with a pop of colour and aided in accessorising a stunning collection. Developing on last years sunglasses trend, Lunyee produced their own versions this year, featuring a thick clear plastic containing a blue illuminated ‘LUNYEE’ brand logo printed across the front.
Deviating from the runways, the sunglasses trend has been seen throughout London street style, with mainstream fashion adapting the glasses seen on last year’s runways, and cheaper versions appearing in high street stores. With the sunglasses trend back for a second year, we can expect to see some aspect of the fashionable eyewear on the SS20 catwalks.
