This London Fashion Week, NAMES hosted uniquely crafted AW20 Hybrid event, symbolising their celebration of "the spirit of performance art and diversity in creativity". Designers Hemsley London, SYZYGY and Florentine Leitner walked down the catwalk in Somerset House, displaying individuality through each label's unique designs and craftsmanship techniques.
Exhibiting modern non-binary streetwear the runway opened for the first time; R-T-W brand Hemsley London. Already being "well established on the British scene for its perfectly manufactured bags and accessories" the collection kept up their beloved signature British style this season. The brand enhances striking colours and box framed gramets extending their agender stance on fashion. Hemsley London also incorporates high branding this AW20 season, having the name of the brand printed either in monogram or stitched into a statement piece, following common streetwear trends of today.
After their September debut, 'esoteric' label SYZYGY walked next, the Taipei based design dup "aims to provide modern women with innovative options of interactive clothing combined with architectural silhouettes and creative textiles." Draping the models in free-flowing garments, some with asymmetric sleeves delivers a classic elegant approach to the catwalk. Keeping to SYZYGY's signature palettes this AW20 collection brought light fabrics and shades of blues classic to SYZYGY.
Florentina Leitner closed the runway, taking a unique approach to Alice in Wonderland with her mad hatter looks. Piecing together eye-catching graphics and prints alongside bright coloured statment garments highlighted the dreamlike aesthetic of the AW20 collection. The looks are said to demonstrate "a care free girl trapped in a parallel universe of sadness and contradictions." A variety of different designs proceeded down the runway, from flowy cloud skirts and dresses to a hypnotising tight fitted jumpsuit accessorised with a large faux fur hat.
